HISTORY DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

  • Prelude conference of IIPA (Indian Institute of Public Administration) was conducted by the departments of Political Science and History. One day seminar on “Strengthening of Ethical and Moral Values in Governance” on October 7.
  • A Lecture Series, “THE QUEST” was started on October 27. The lecture series was inaugurated by Prof. V. Karthikeyan Nair, Director, Kerala State Language Institute. Topic was Malayali nationalism and formation of Kerala State. Sri. Rejikumar, Director of Archives was the guest of honour.
  • Two days Exhibition of Archival records and Archaeological objects was organised in the College with the help of Kerala State Dept of Archives and Archaeology, 27-28 October
  • Two days Book exhibition was organised with the help of State Institute of Language, 27-28 October.
  • Exhibition of heritage objects was organised by our students at MMR Higher Secondary School on November 1, 2016
  • An exhibition of old coins, currency, old house hold articles etc was conducted by our students at Govt UP School, Karumom on Nov 7.
  • Second lecture in the Lecture series The Quest was delivered by Dr. Isaac, Member of Indian Council for Historical Research on 28, November. The topic of lecture was Early Resistance Movements in Kerala.
  • Human Rights day celeberated on December 8 and HR club was formally inaugurated. Dr.K. Vikraman Nair, Principal, Mar Ivanios College of Law & former Director School of Indian Legal Thoughts, M G university Interactive session on Women and Human Rights was led by Dr Sindhu Thulaseedharan, Dept of Law, University of Kerala.
  • Class on Personality Development for third year students. Mr. Sabarinath, Managing Director, Mint Mind ( Training Institute), Banglore.
  • Study tour was conducted to historical places such as Padmanabhapuram palace, Sucheendram temple, Vattakotta and Kanyakumari.
  • . Manuscript Magazines are released by the II Year and III Year students.
  • Seminar was conducted with the State Archives Department in connection with theDiamond Jubilee Celebration of Kerala State on 13 th February 2017. Students from History and Malayalam Departments participated.
  • Lecture was organised by Dr.P.Vasumathy Devi, Professor, Department Of History, University Of Kerala,in conection with the History Association Inauguration.
  • A talk by Sabarinath (NLP Trainer) was organised for III Year students on Personality Development.
  • Students collected fund and donated to Anandanilayam Orphanage, Manacaud.

  • Invited lecture by Dr S.S Lal, WHO consultant, Oct 8 2015
  • History Association inauguration by Dr.P.F Gopakumar, HOD, Dept of History, University College, Trivandrum. He took a session on Writing of Local History on March 1. Dr. K.R. Ushakumari took class on Social Reformers of Kerala in the afternoon.
  • Study tour to historical places such as Krishnapuram palace, Hill Palace Museum, Jews museum etc
  • Dr. Arun B. Nair, Professor, Dept of Psychiatry, Trivandrum Medical College took class on Stress Management.
  • 2014-15

  • History Association inauguration was done by Dr.Maheen, Head, Dept of History, University of Calicut.
  • A demonstrative lecture session on MUDIYETTU, the ancient ritual art, which is recognised by the UNESCO in the list of world Intangible Heritage list was delivered by Sri. Varanath Narayan Kurup, Mudiyettu performer, recognised by the UNESCO and India Govt.

  • Dr. J Devika, Dr. Paul Newman, Banglore University etc were the resource persons.

  • Two days UGC Seminar on Folkore as Source of Local History. Many resource persons, students , researchers, faculties participated.
  • History Association Inaguration was done by Dr. P.J Cheriyan, Director KCHR . He gave a talk on “Significance of Pattanam Archeological excavations” on 6-1- 12
  • Study tour was conducted to historical places.

  • UGC National Seminar on Human Rights and the Environment:Problems and Prospectives was conducted on Dec 2011, 1&2. Human Rights Commisson Chairman Justice J.B.Koshy inaugurated. Many eminent persons participated as resource persons.
