9 NOVEMBER 2018 – COLLEGE UNION INAUGURATION
The grand ‘Inauguration of the College Union’ was held on 9 th November 2017. The function was presided over by our respected Principal, Dr Ambilikutty Amma. Dr. Divya S. Iyer. I.A.S., Sub Collector, Thiruvananthapuram, inaugurated the College Union activites for the current academic year. Sri. M. Jayachandran (Music Director) inaugurated the Arts Club activities of the Union. Sri. B. Aburaj, (Director, SIET) inaugurated the literary activities and Olympian Renjith Maheswari (Olympic Athlete) flagged off the athletic and sports related activities of the union for the year.
1 st of December 2017 - AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAMME
The first programme taken up by the union for the year was an awareness program on AIDS conducted in association with an NGO ‘CASTALIA’ on the 1 st of December 2017, commemorating the World’s Aids Day-2017. Smt Reshmi, Director, KSACS conducted a two hour class imparting essential information regarding the disease, its propagation and the precautions that should be taken to stay safe. The program which was attended by the students and the teachers alike.
MATHRUBHUMI QUIZ COMPETITION
The college hosted the Matrubhumi Quiz competition in association with the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters on 31/1/2018. Gayarti V R and Arya U S of II MA English bagged the first Prize consisting of a certificate and books worth Rs4500.
19 th February 2018 - AYURLAYA
On 19 th February 2018 the Union conducted an Ayurvedic Community Health Care Camp and Counseling session in association with ‘AYURLAYA’ for the students, staff and parents. A questionnaire was circulated among all students enquiring their medical and counselling needs and doctors were arranged according to those requirements. 446 students, a few parents and many staff members participated in the program. Five doctors from a reputed ayurvedic family of Kottarakkara spend the entire day in the college for counselling and consultation needs of the participants. The programme was inaugurated by the retired Chief Secretary of Kerala, Mr. Jiji Thomson IAS.
The college Day celebrations cum Merit day
The college Day celebrations cum Merit day of our College was conducted on 19 th March 2018. The function, which was chaired by our Principal was inaugurated by Mr. Rishi Raj Singh I.P.S., the Excise Commissioner of the State. Mr. M.A. Nishad, the award winning director/actor/script writer and Mr. Vivek Gopan, serial actor and CCL player, also felicitated the function. The day was adorned with various programmes by the students of the institution and was a great day of enjoyment and enthusiasm.
VISIT TO OLD-AGE HOME
The union also took up a charity programme to instill a feeling of empathy among students and to enhance the feeling of social commitment among the youth of today. An old age home and a home for the sick ‘Divine Mercy’ having nearly 25 destitute inmates belonging to all religions was identified by the students. Food itemsincluding rice, sugar, wheat, pulses, oil etc was collected as donation from the students of the college. We were able to collect nearly Rs 10000/- worth of items.
Induction Programme for Parents and Students
The Parent Teacher Association of NSS College for Women, Neeramankara, in collaboration with
MILMA , organized an Induction Programme for parents and students of First Year Degree
Programme on 21/8/2017.
Dr.Alexander Jacob, IPS, Nodal Officer, National University for Police Sciences and Security Sciences was the chief guest.He enriched the young minds with his valuable guidance and knowledge and tricks to score high marks in examinations.The audience was captivated during the entire programme that lasted for about 3 hours.
Installation of Napkin Vending Machine
Trivandrum corporation sponsored two napkin vending machines ,donated by HLL.Officials from HLL and the Ward Councilor Mrs. Asha Nath were present in the inauguration ceremony.
