1. NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit of the college functions under the 1 Kerala Girls Battalion NCC with the objective of promoting discipline, leadership, character, patriotism and a spirit of service among students.

As a women’s college, the NCC Unit provides an important platform for the empowerment and holistic development of young women. Through NCC training and activities, cadets are encouraged to develop self-confidence, leadership qualities, teamwork, physical fitness, a sense of responsibility and commitment to the nation and society.

The Unit facilitates the participation of cadets in activities and programmes conducted under the NCC including parade and drill, national and commemorative events, community service, awareness initiatives, camps and other activities as per NCC guidelines and opportunities provided by the Battalion.

The college aims to nurture responsible, confident and disciplined young women who are prepared to take up leadership roles and contribute positively to society. The NCC Unit seeks to uphold the core values of discipline, unity, selfless service, leadership and national integration.

All retired teaching staff of the college are members of ART. This is a common platform for all of them to meet and help each other.

66. National Service Scheme

The scheme is introduced with a view to develop national conscious- ness and a sense of responsibility among the students. It provides the students with opportunities to devote their leisure time to the service of the nation. The membership is open to all students. 100 Students will be enrolled as volunteers every year for each unit. Those volunteers who complete social service work under the scheme for 240 hours during two academic years will be awarded a certificate by the University of Kerala.

Walk with the Scholar Programme is a novel and flagship initiative of the Dept. of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Kerala at our college from 2014-15. WWS proposes to arrange specialized mentioning programs for students in Under Graduate programs in Arts, Science and Commerce and to provide guidance for their future. The scheme introduces the idea of mentioning and builds on the concept of mentor as a ‘Guide’ and ‘friend,’

69. Acquired Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP)

Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) is an initiative by the Government of Kerala to amplify working hands in different sectors of the economy, by providing additional skill sets to students along with their regular courses. By importing Communication Skills in English and Basic IT Course to the student community, the project envisages to create talents equipped to work in modern day organizations that promote a global work environment by choice, student groups receives sector specific skills that further enable them to be employable and industry ready.
