The Department of Music was established in the College in 1981. Till 2012(final year), the Annual scheme of examination was followed with slight modifications/variations, additions, and changes in the syllabus from time to time for the betterment of the learning practices. Later, as per the directives of the Higher Education Council, the CBCS system (Choice Based Credit and Semester System) was introduced in B.A degree program. The students enrolled in June 2010 formed the first CBCSS batch at Kerala University. Students having aptitude and talent for music are admitted for B.A Music Degree program. An aptitude test is included in the selection procedure. Some students may have learned classical music earlier. Some others may not have been trained earlier, but possess musical talents. Such candidates are also selected. Music's main course includes Practical, Theory, and Veena, practical classes. Classes in English, Second language, and Sanskrit are offered by the corresponding Departments.
